EUMETSAT, the European meteorological satellite agency is looking to recruit a Spacecraft Operations Team Leader. Bringing together the resources of 30 member states, we observe the atmosphere, ocean, and land surfaces from space using a system of satellites 365 days a year. Our data is vital for weather forecasts that help to protect lives and property, as well as monitoring the environment and our changing climate.
We want you to come and manage our team that runs the operations for our Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) space segment operations.
You will use your operational knowledge and management skills to supervise our team which plans and manages the routine operations of our multi-satellite Meteosat Second Generation space segment. Working with our partners, you will ensure that routine operations run to schedule and all anomalies are investigated and resolved. As Deputy to the Operations Manager, you will be involved in the strategic planning and review of our programme, along with contributing to future Meteosat programmes and introducing new services, as appropriate.
With a university degree in a relevant discipline, your experience will include routine operations, operations preparation in a satellite development project, or spacecraft assembly integration and testing. With knowledge of systems related to satellite control facilities and simulators, you will use your understanding of system engineering standards relevant to space operational systems to enhance our programmes. You need to understand complex issues and be able to express ideas and issues clearly. Your focus will be on achieving successful outcomes and motivating your team. Training other team members in a matrix organisation will also be a key part in this challenging role.
